Weekly update

We’ll be putting a short update on our activities here every week…

Danger at Pedestrian Crossings- At our public meeting last week (7th October) there were several reports of speeding cars, breaking traffic lights on Navan Road and endangering children, which we have referred to our Community Gardai in Cabra. They confirmed “the area is monitored by their own Divisional Traffic Unit and Dublin Castle, in marked and unmarked vehicles, as well as by the Gardai in Cabra”, and they have “copied your communication to our own traffic unit for extra attention ” .

They ask anyone who has specific information of such traffic infringements to please call Traffic Watch 1890 205 805 or report directly to the station at 01-6667400 with as much information as possible, i.e. time/date/reg. numbers. We realise it is extremely difficult to get accurate reg. numbers at such times, and ask that you do not get into any danger. If you can remember, jot down the registration number as soon as possible, or enter into your phone, and do not hesitate to report it immediately.

We are still left without a Community Garda Sgt. in Cabra Station – despite promises for a replacement, following retirement of the last one last year. There is an Acting Sergeant in place.

Halloween – Gardai have reminded us that “supplying materials for bonfire is considered illegal dumping and fines can be issued accordingly” If you see dangerous materials being stocked up, please call your local Cabra DCC office 01-2227400 – (phones open 9-5 Mon – Fri) or email to cabraoffice@dublincity.ie.
We have extended our great sorrow at the dreadful loss to our Community Gardai of yet another compatriot, lost serving the public.
