Dublin City Transport Study

A consultation is underway to determine the future for transport in Dublin City. All aspects are being considered, bus, rail, Luas routes as well as facilities for cyclists and pedestrians for the period 2015-2023.

The link to the study and FAQs is here. Navan Road Community Council has noted that it would appear that the proposed bus route from Navan Road into the city centre will run via Prussia St, across Queen St bridge up to Thomas St and Christchurch. It also appears that there will be no direct bus route into O’Connell Street such as that presently available via the 38 and 122 services. The intention is that commuters link up with Luas lines to access other areas of the north side. Below is a link to a blog post by Donal O’Brolcháin of Drumcondra which has various criticisms of the plan, not least that even the new Luas line from Broombridge completely avoids the North Central core economic area. Amenities such as the Mater Hospital and Croke Park will not be easily accessible.

The closing date for submissions is 7th August. This is your chance to respond and give your opinion on the future of transport in Dublin City. Details and questionnaires are available at all public libraries and local Dublin City Council offices. Already 1300 responses have been received online.

Navan Road Community Council

Navan Road Community Council was set up in 1968 to help bring together community groups and sporting groups, so that they would have one voice when trying to get things done in the community. These days the NRCC lobbies Dublin City Council and local representatives in relation to issues such as traffic, planning and policing to name a few.
