Draft Phoenix Park Visitor Experience Strategic Review – 2 Public Meetings

We are lucky to live in close proximity to the Phoenix Park which provides such an important amenity for recreational, sporting and leisure activities.  The Park is also home to a multitude of plant life and animal life, including a large herd of fallow deer.

The Park is an oasis of calm in our large, busy capital city.

The OPW, Fáilte Ireland and the Department of Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht have commissioned an independent review of the visitor experience in the Park.  The “Draft Phoenix Park Visitor Experience Strategic Review” was launched last week and it sets out 29 recommendations and possible changes to the Park.  This review is on display in the Visitor’s Centre in Ashtown Castle every day from 9.30am to 5.30pm until Friday 5th April. It can also be found on www.phoenixpark.ie

Two of our local TDs have arranged public meetings.

The first will take place on Saturday 30th March 2019 at 11am in The Half Way House Pub, Ashtown.

The second will take place on Saturday 30th March 2019 at 5.30pm in St. Brigid’s GAA Club, Castleknock.

Observations and submissions on the Draft Review can be made by post to Cathy Mahon, Office of Public Works, Heritage Services, Dublin Castle, Dublin 2, D02V240 or by email to visitorpark@opw.ie

Closing date for submissions is 6pm on Friday 12th April 2019.

BusConnects Core Bus Corridor 5 – Sample Residents Submission Letter

Navan Road residents are probably aware that there is a proposal by the National Transport Authority (NTA) to upgrade the Bus Infrastructure in Dublin City and County. This is called the Core Bus Corridor Project and there are 16 route proposals.  The one that concerns this area is the Blanchardstown to City Centre Core Bus Corridor 5 Project.

The Navan Road Community Council (NRCC)supports proposals that improve bus routes, infrastructure and better cycling and pedestrian facilities.

We are very concerned that the current proposal will destroy the quality of life of our area.  While the proposal affects some Navan Road residents more directly, it will have implications for everyone.  Therefore, we are appealing to all residents to send in their own submission.

We are attaching a letter indicating some of the points that you may wish to raise in your submission.   However, if you wish, please use this letter which should be signed, addressed and dated.

Remember to submit your letter or email before the 29thMarch 2019 deadline to:

BusConnects Phase Two – Request for your input

The proposal to increase bus frequency and quality, improving and adding to the cycling and pedestrian infrastructure is welcome.

As you may be aware the second (infrastructure) phase of the proposed BusConnects Plan, which includes the corridor from Blanchardstown via Navan Road to the City, is currently out for consultation.

This phase deals with the physical changes that are proposed to facilitate the necessary bus corridors and cycle lanes such as removal of trees, parts of some front gardens and parts of footpaths.

The Community Council intends to make a submission on the current phase and would like to invite residents of the Navan Road Area to participate by contacting us on navanroad.com or by email at navanroadcc@gmail.com with any comments or concerns you may have about this phase which we will take into account when making our submission.
